Snowman in the Forest

Cook Forest Vacation Bureau Annual Snowman building contest is free to all contestants and contest entry forms are available at  the following participating sponsor businesses or online at http://www.cookforest.org

A complete Contest Entry Form must be turned into a participating business on the day the snowman is built. The participating business will take a timely photo of the snowman for your entry. Entry forms and photos will be submitted within 10 days to a Cook Forest Vacation Bureau board member at PO Box 50, Cooksburg, PA 16217 and posted on Cook Forest Vacation Bureau website at www.cookforest.org.

When: Contest starts with the first snowfall of the season and ends at the end of March of each year. On special participation days, to be announced, refreshments will be served near the ice skating pond from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. to all Snowman in the Forest participants.

Where: (1) In Cook Forest State Park snowmen may be built along River Road starting at the Cooksburg Post Office and going up the Clarion River for about one mile. This area includes a lighted ice skating pond and sledding hill, children's play area with swings, picnic tables, outdoor grills and public restrooms. (2) In Clear Creek State Park snowmen may be build in the cabin and camping areas. (3) Private land designated as "Snowman Territory" by the above mentioned participating sponsor businesses.

Rules: Contest begins with the first snowfall of the season and ends on the last day of March each year.  A separate entry form is required for each snowman and given to a participating business on the day the snowman is created so the date of birth can be recorded. Snowman must be built in "Snowman Territory" using natural snow with at least one feature over three feet tall. Clothing and props may be used but they will be discarded when the snowman goes away. Snowman must be suitable for all viewing audiences. "G" rated only and  no obscenities will be permitted.

Use of the State Park Land and Private Land for this event is at your own risk and liability. For written notification of winners, attach a self-addressed stamped envelope to your entry form. Photos of winners, runner up, and other interesting creations will be posted on the following web sites: www.pagreatoutdoors.com and www.cookforest.org.
