Thank You!!

Thank you so very much for having us at Sugar Pine again! It's so different now than back in 2010, but oh my so much for the better. My husband and I both used the Jacuzzi tub and it made our aches go away. Riko, our dog, also loved it - he was so well behaved there and seemed to feel right at home. I really hope you'll have us back again!

Heather: Glad you and your husband enjoyed your stay. Thank you for staying with us.

Buckeye Cabin

My sister and I spent 3 days, had a peaceful, relaxing time. You and your staff were very kind and helpful. We spent several evenings on the wrap around porch just visiting an catching up. We will be back again, maybe next time the foliage will cooperate. Thank you again.

The fall foilage has been very beautifull. Glad you enjoyed your stay.

Another great visit

This was our second stay with Top Hill Cabins. We stayed in Hidden Oakes again and it was great!
The cabin is clean, well equipped and comfortable.
We will be back next year.

Great review. Thank you. Looking forward to seeing you next year!

Sugar Pine Cabin

Sugar Pine Cabin is not secluded and very open, almost like in a field. At first I was disappointed that it was not closer to the woods; however, sitting around the fire and looking up at the stars was awesome. It was like being in a huge planetarium. The front is on the main road. We sat on the back porch, which was fine. We did not cook there, but it was well equipped. The mattress was a little hard, but we are use to a pillow top mattress. The cabin was clean. The whirlpool tub worked fine, unlike the post below. It is perfect for two people.
Would go back again.

Highly recommended

My friends and I have stayed at these cabins year after year and have had a great experience! The cabin is always clean and the staff is very friendly. We will keep staying here year after year.

Hey Dee: Thank you for returning again and again to our cabins. We appreciate you.

Always a pleasant stay. I've been lucky enough to visit many of the cabins. This trip I was able to try a new cabin. Great fire pit and seating out back. Although 2 bedroom, there is also a futon in the main area at Maple Grove. A small dresser in one of the rooms.

After I had additional family members come in, we moved to a larger cabin that worked even better. Hidden Oaks has a closet and some hooks for hanging clothing when not in use. (The hooks are great!) And a great back porch. Larry, Lois and the rest of the staff always willing to help and give recommendations of where to go in the area to help with our needs.

Julie: Thanks for the review. Looking forward to your next visit.

This was our first time at Tophill Cabins. We stayed in Sugar Pine. It was beautiful inside. Certainly comes equipped with everything you need! Only disappointing factor was the whirlpool tub. The jets must have needed cleaned. When turned on, they spewed out black pieces of dirt throughout the tub!!

Christine: Sorry about the jets in the tub. We have cleaned it and now it is perfect. Sorry for your discomfort.

Thank you for staying with us and hopefully you will come back another time.

Another Great Trip

Usually we stay in the Blue spruce, but it was booked, so we stayed in the Hemlock haven , which my wife referred to as the "Manor". As usual, excellent. Clean, comfortable, and very relaxing. Larry and Lois are fabulous hosts. You won't go wrong staying at Top Hill.

We stayed at twin oaks and had a great time! The cabin was nice and clean as usual. We enjoyed watching the 6 deer walk behind the cabin while we had our fire going in the fire pit. Lois and Larry were friendly and pleasant as they always are. We recommend this cabin and probably will be back soon to visit them again. There is so much to do in that area, ride horses, watch wildlife, eat ice cream and lots more!

Walt: Thank you for your review. We appreciate you and yours returning to our cabins again and again! Hope to see you again soon.

Great family reunion

We had 26 family members stay in various cabins for 3 nights. We were in Hemlock Haven. It was beyond our expectations. Larry and Lois were very accommodating for a group our size. We had a very memorable week-end. Planning on going there again for next reunion. A lot to do in that area.

Thank you for staying with us! Your family was a pleasure to have as guests. We are pleased that you enjoyed our cabins and Cook Forest State Park. Your kind words are also appreciated.
Just give us a call when you are ready to rebook! We look forward to your next visit.

Lovely Stay

Had a lovely stay at Top Hill Cabins! I was amazed at how clean and relatively bug free. Grass and undergrowth around the cabin was well controlled which I am sure contributed to lack of bugs, spiders and snakes (oh my!). My husband and I had several lovely walks down the adjacent country roads and an exhilarating hike through the Cathdral Natural Area within Cook Forest. As a native of Western Pa, I have been to Cook Forest a number of times over the years, but for my Ohio born husband, this was the first time. No doubt he thoroughly enjoyed our stay and is looking forward to regular returns.

Thank you, Chris, for the great review. We do work on the bugs, spiders and flies but can't get rid of all of them. We hope you do return again.

Never having been to Cook Forest, my husband and I picked a cabin based on whether or not the residence allowed dogs. Top of the Hill Cabins does allow dogs, and we were able to make reservations perhaps only six weeks before our stay.

Although the cabin we stayed in, Sugar Pine, is not secluded in the woods like most of the other cabins at Top of the Hill Cabins, it does have air conditioning, which was fabulous for a hot July day. I didn’t worry about the dog overheating when we left him in his crate to listen to the live music (Sundays and Tuesdays) at the restaurant adjacent to the property (End of the Trail, I think it’s called). Though near the road, the setting was ridiculously peaceful. Hardly any cars drove by, and we rarely saw any people when we were there, which was a Monday to Wednesday. The trail heads are a brief 3-10 minute ride from the Cabins. And although several cabin sites in other rental areas are adjacent to the river, many of those vacationers had to supply all of their own things: camp stove, coffee pot, etc. Several had common shower and restroom facilities.

In contrast, the Top of the Hill Cabins have everything any traveler might want. I was disappointed to realize I had left my wine opener at home, but happy to find a wine opener in a kitchen drawer. And honestly, if I hadn’t found one, I could have texted Larry and Lois and I am positive that they would have brought over their own! The cabin was equipped so I could really cook whatever I wanted and there was plenty of room in the refrigerator for the food I had packed in two coolers. If you haven’t been to this area, it’s pretty secluded. There are a few camp stores, but I would advise planning meals and packing much of what you might want.

The website clearly describes that the cottage is an efficiency, which was plenty of room for two people, a dog crate, and a dog. A person could easily switch out the dog crate for a pack and play. The large front porch and covered back porch double the cabin’s size. We ate at the picnic table on the back deck each day. We didn’t get a chance to use the gazebo swing or the fire pit, but the entire set up was great. The satellite TV worked perfectly fine. I had some trouble figuring out the DVD player, so when I texted Larry and Lois at 9:00 PM to ask if there was a trick to the TV remote, before I got a reply, Larry came over personally to check the TV to find that another renter had switched the cables, so we had to select a different input which we hadn’t already tried.

In addition, I was impressed with the cleanliness of the cabin. The pine walls and ceiling feel rustic, but the cabin is brand new. The bathroom is quite large with the tub. All in all, I would definitely stay at the Top of the Hill Cabins again.

Kate: That is a great review! Thank you for taking the time to write this. It will certainly be helpful for others trying to decide where to stay!

Maple Grove Cabin

We Love the cabin, Maple Grove Cabin. Great place to stay, besides the hot water running out on us in the shower. The place is lovely and we will book it again no doubt on that. My kids enjoy it.

Larry is a great guy.

Thank you for the review. Larry has managed to get the water issue resolved. It had something to do with the Hot Water Tank being new. You would have to ask him. Hope to see you again in the future. Lois

Sunburst Locust Cabin 2nd Stay

My family stayed in the Sunburst cabin for the 2nd time and loved it just as much as the 1st time. The big yard area is great for the kids to play in and the cabin itself along with the annex cabin gives the whole family plenty of room so everyone is comfortable. The owners are wonderful and very friendly to work with. Looking forward to coming back again....

Beth: We appreciated your second visit very much. Thank you for the review.

Loved it

We stayed in Red Maple cabin. To date, this is by far the best cabin we have stayed in. We loved the privacy too. Highly recommend it.

We love that you stayed in Red Maple Cabin and we are so happy that you enjoyed it. Thank you.

Highly recommend

If you are looking for a cabin in a wonderful forest setting, I highly recommend Top Hill Cabins. My wife, myself ,and our dog prefer Sugar Pine Cottage.

Very well maintained, knotty pine decor, with all the modern amenities. It is basically an efficiency set up,and it is perfect for us. Love to explore the many local trails in Cook Forest, relax on the porch, and enjoy meals at the Trails End restaurant that sits next to entrance of property. Looking forward to our next visit.

Old hickory

My family and I stayed at the old hickory cabin April 27-30th 2018 we have been to cook forest every year now for the past 4 yrs and this was the nicest cabin we have stayed at . It wasn't as secluded as we thought but it was still nice and quiet and had plenty of woods to enjoy. There could have been a few more plates, coffee cups and the shower could have sprayed better but it wasn’t bad. We usually don’t go this early in the year but decided to go and I’m glad we went here we have never had tv when we’ve been there but since it was pretty cold out one of the days we were there it was nice to stay in watch tv and play our card games. I look forward to coming back and staying at one of your cabins again. The Gould’s
